An 18-year-old Carvers Bay High student said he was approached by a 54-year-old man while on the baseball field Feb. 10. He said the man was asking about “some rumors about his daughter that were floating around the school,” the report states.
The man began yelling and cursing at the student in front of his teammates and coaches. He also took his coat off acting like he wanted to fight, the student told the deputy.
The man was escorted off the property by the coaches.
The next day, deputies spoke to the man who admitted going to the field and apologized for his actions.
The student said he did not want to press charges. The school’s principal said it was unknown if the man would be placed on trespass notice.
Door shattered at Dunbar store
Deputies were sent to Marty’s Grocery in the 2500 block of Dunbar Road at about 2:15 a.m. Feb. 10 because of an alarm activation.
They arrived and saw the front door was shattered.
The owner of the store said nothing appeared to be missing.
Alcohol at WHS
A staff member at Waccamaw High was told Feb. 5 that a 15-year-old student was seen passing a bottle to another student on campus.
The student was taken to the office and an apple juice bottle was found in his backpack. When the cap was removed, a strong smell of alcohol was noted.
The student, when asked, admitted it was Vodka inside the bottle. He said he drank some of the Vodka before school began.
He was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.
