County to provide free winter storm debris pick-up starting Monday, Feb. 24

Georgetown County will provide free pickup of debris from Winter Storm Pax starting on Monday, Feb. 24.

On Wednesday morning, Georgetown County Council decided during a special meeting to activate a contract with debris management contractors for clean-up of storm-related yard debris Debris should be placed on the side of the road, on the public right-of-way.

This includes areas throughout the county, as well as within the City of Georgetown and the Towns of Andrews and Pawleys Island.

Debris should be vegetative and yard waste.

Debris will only be picked up on public roads (with green signs, not blue signs).

Gated communities and private roads will not be included.

The County will pay for this service out of a $10 million emergency reserve, and may be reimbursed for part of the expense by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), said Sel Hemingway, county administrator.
