Kathleen Vogel Allen
Kathleen Vogel Allen, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at her home.
Born on August 5, 1926, in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Vogel and the late Mary Rollins Vogel. Mrs. Allen was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, F. Harris Allen of Georgetown; four children, Stephen Allen of Stone Mountain, GA, Lois Allen of Laurel, MD, Wayne Allen (Carol) of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Joan Allen of Laurel, MD; and a sister, Mary Trunk of Eustis, FL.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Mary, Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church with Father Ron Farrell officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.

Johnathan Alan Atkinson, 22, of Andrews, the beloved son of Earl (Regina) Atkinson and Pamela Roberts Atkinson, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Health System.
Mr. Atkinson was born December 23, 1991 in Fayetteville, N.C. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served one tour in Afghanistan. He loved basketball and football.
He leaves behind his parents; a son, Mason Alan Atkinson; his siblings, Justin Atkinson (Leslie Kennedy), Whitney (Dennis) Martin, and Rebecka Belue. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Betty R. (Roger) Williams; his paternal grandfather, Frank Atkinson; the mother of his child, Ashley Daigle; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, a niece and a nephew.
He was predeceased by a brother, Davey Belue; his maternal grandfather, Benton Roberts Jr.; and his paternal grandmother, Donna Atkinson.
Funeral services with military recognition will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Andrews Church of God. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Andrews Chapel.

Betty Joe Benson
Betty Joe Owens Benson, 64, of Charleston, the widow of Raymond Linio Benson departed this life on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Benson was born the daughter of Samuel Lamar Owens and Nettie Miriam Baxley Owens on October 10, 1949 in Georgetown County. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
She leaves behind her granddaughter, Alexis Catherine Tryell; her son-in-law, Johnnie Tryell; two brothers, Charles (Faye) Owens and Leonard (Gail) Owens; and two sisters, Nancy (Billy) Wise and Peggy (Butch) Wolff.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Toni Lynn Thomas Tryell.
Graveside service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Andrews Memorial Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Andrews Chapel.

Cassandra “Sandy” Wildes Douglas, 66, of Hemingway, the beloved wife of Tommy Lee Douglas, departed this life on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Douglas was born the daughter of Christopher C. Wildes Sr. and Mary Elna Courson Wildes on July 4, 1947 in Kingstree. She was a 1965 graduate of Andrews High School. She attended Columbia College and Williamsburg Technical College. She was employed by the Williamsburg County School District. She was a faithful member of the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She committed her life to acts of selfless giving and prayer for her family; and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mom.
She leaves behind her husband; three children, William E. (Christina) Douglas, Johnathan M. Douglas, and Jacob D. Wildes; and three grandchildren, Matt, Luke and Colton. She also leaves behind two brothers, Christopher C. (Carolyn) Wildes III and Darrell R. Wildes.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Barry M. Wildes.
A Going Home Celebration was at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery, directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Memorials may be made to the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

Mark Larue Elliott, 43, of Andrews went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Elliott was born the son of Allen Larue Elliott and Gloria Diane Elliott on March 6, 1970 in Georgetown.
He leaves behind his mother; a sister, Gail (Vince Marlowe) Elliott; and his paternal grandmother, Annabelle Elliott. He also leaves behind three uncles, Joe Mills, Wilbert (Cheryl) Elliott; and Dennis Elliott; an aunt, Ethel Lou Cooper; his cousins, Bubba (Tammy Wildes) McClellan and Peggy Lynn McClellan; and his dear friends, Paul (Janice) Debaca.
He was predeceased by his father.
A graveside service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bethel Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Andrews Chapel.

Barbara Faith Every, 58, of Andrews, the widow of Walter Horace Cheely, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Every was born the daughter of Theodore Every and Marie Undercuffler on March 22, 1955 in Norristown, PA. She was a retired employee with IBM Corporation.
She leaves behind two sons, Chris (Tammy) Cheely and Archie (Allison) Cheely; and five grandchildren, Christian, Shantae, Sabastian, Seren and Susan. She also leaves behind two brothers, Michael Every and John Every; and two sisters, Denise Every and Judy Every.
She was predeceased by her mother; her husband; a brother, Phillip Charles Every; and a sister, Catherine Every.
A memorial service was at 5 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
