Season 2 of Party Down South expected

  • Tuesday, February 18, 2014

There is a good chance a second season for “Party Down South” will happen. But, media outlets that cover entertainment report the cast of the show — filmed in Murrells Inlet — want more money to keep the series going.

TMZ — www.tmz.com — reports Party Down South has been a “runaway hit” for CMT and the cast is in talks “with a high profile management team” to negotiate new contracts.

According to the report, filming for a second season is expected to begin next month but the cast “won't film another second of footage” unless they get more money.

Sources told TMZ the eight cast members earned $500 per episode for the first season but they say they need more money since CMT has announced in a press release that Party Down South has helped generate the network's highest ratings since 2009. It is also reportedly CMT's highest rated digital series ever, meaning more people have watched the show online than any other streamed by the network.

It is has not been announced where a second season of the series would be filmed.

Georgetown County spokeswoman Jackie Broach says the production company — 495 Productions — has not contacted the county about returning to Murrells Inlet.
