Santee Electric Cooperative “continuing to work diligently” to restore all power

  • Saturday, February 15, 2014

As of 5:15 p.m., Santee Electric Cooperative had 7,351 customers in Georgetown County still without power. They had 23,754 system-wide without electricity.

The company released the following statement today:

Santee Electric Cooperative has restored electricity to about 20,000 of the 44,226 members affected by winter storm Pax. We are continuing to work diligently and will not stop until every last member is restored.

Please donít be discouraged if you see other people get their power restored before you do.

Customers in the same neighborhood may be served from different phases on the same feeder. One phase may be less severely damaged than another, which serves the neighborsí homes.

Members who remain without power may have an individual outage due to a downed tap line or other reason that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Crews are working to address these situations on a ďhome by homeĒ basis.

Not seeing a crew in your area does not mean a memberís situation is not being addressed. In outage situations, crews are diligently working to cut trees and restore lines, and it is sometimes the case that power can be restored to areas without members actually seeing a crew.

It is also possible that an individual memberís breaker needs to be reset. Customers are urged to examine this possibility and, if necessary, customers should reset the breakers inside the homeís breaker panel.

We cannot give an estimate of when power will be back on because every outage is different. Please call 888-239-2300 to report your outage. ?
