The Knights of Columbus held their Operation Hope Awards Banquet on Jan. 16.

At the banquet were three agencies that accepted checks of $3,500 each from Georgetown Council 3067 Knights of Columbus for their work with the mentally challenged citizens of Georgetown County. Pattie Pierce with Area #9 Special Olympics; Martha Insignares with the JOY School of Pawleys Island; and Ted Winans with the Georgetown County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs accepted checks from Colin Peterson, project chair.

A special Appreciation Award was also given to Ms. Rochelle Geathers of the Georgetown Walmart for their store allowing the Knights to collect these donations in 2013.

The Knights spent in excess of 400 hours collecting this money. Peterson indicates that the Council is most thankful for the generousity of the gracious people of Georgetown County in their annual support of this very worthwhile fundraiser.
