With the restoration of the Martin Street area in which a dozen or so homes had remained out the power almost all of the “group” outages have been restored. There is still three homes in the Willowbank subdivision, the 2800 block of Front Street (one side only) and 2 or 3 in the Huger area still out but are in the process of being restored.
The bulk of the remaining work will be restoring individual homes who service drops have been damaged.
The dangerous tree activity is separate in that there are a lot of trees threatening electrical lines and work orders are being compiled and sent out as these are identified. The public has helped us identify a lot of these.
There are three crews out removing debris as well as two “knuckleboom” trucks. One crew is on the east side of South Island road moving to the west side of South Island Rd. when it is completed. One is on the north side of town on Congdon Street, working that area, along with Hazard and Palm Streets. A third crew is in the Historic District and will move to Willowbank later. One man knuckle boom truck is in Maryville as well as the other is on the Western side of Town working Front Street out to Butts Street (city limit)
It is our intention to work 10 hour days until debris in the right of way is no longer an issue.
We have been asked to make City Hall a warming station again this evening as there is a substantial number of County residents who will be without power on this end of Georgetown County and have agreed to do so. Guests should bring blankets, snacks or other personal effects they may need. No pets can be accommodated in City Hall.
