Waccamaw wrestlers fall in Lower State playoffs

Chris Sokoloski/Times Waccamaw High's Parker Williams, wrestling against Georgetown earlier this season, picked up a pin against Battery Creek in the second round of the Lower State playoffs on Saturday.

Waccamaw High’s wrestling team lost 45-24 to Battery Creek in the second round of the Lower State playoffs on Saturday.

Parker Williams (152 pounds), Gabe Pope (113) and Omar Lopez (170) got pins for the Warriors, Arman Singh (126) won by technical fall, and Tyler Davis (285) and Shea Burke (145) won on points.

Battery Creek went on to win the Lower State title.

Waccamaw was scheduled to wrestle North Charleston in round one, but the Cougars withdrew from the tournament.

The Warriors are not preparing for the individual Lower State tournament on Feb. 21-22 at Edisto High School.
