Winter Storm Warning for most of Georgetown, Horry Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all but the coastline of Georgetown and Horry Counties which is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday - 3 a.m. Thursday.

* Accumulations... one half to three-quarters of an inch of

ice... along with sleet accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.

* Locations... inland Georgetown County.

* Hazard types... freezing rain and sleet will develop Tuesday

night into Wednesday.

* Impacts... travel conditions may become dangerous as freezing

rain develops Tuesday night into Wednesday. Widespread downed

trees and power lines may lead to long periods of power outages.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People across the region should be prepared for severe winter weather conditions. Dress warmly and make sure your car is in good running order and has been properly winterized. It is highly recommended that you take a winter weather survival kit if you must travel. Prepare generators with plenty of fuel in case ice leads to long power outages.
