“Into the Woods,” a Tony award-winning musical based on Brothers Grimm fairytales, will be presented by Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Theatre through Saturday, Feb. 15, in Wheelwright Auditorium.

With music and lyrics by Steven Sondheim, it tells the story of a baker, played dually by Jackson Bartelme and Eric Waters, and his wife, played by Jennifer Pagano, who want to start a family but learn they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse. In their journey to break the curse, they get some help from some familiar friends. Characters from “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Cinderella,” “Rapunzel” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” all make appearances in this fractured fairy tale.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, Saturday, Feb. 8, Wednesday, Feb. 12, and through Friday, Feb, 14. Two shows will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.
