Paul Price of Garden City not seeking reelection to Horry County Council

  • Thursday, February 6, 2014

Horry County Councilman Paul Price announced Thursday that he would not seek re-election.

Price, whose district includes Garden City Beach, was as low key in making the announcement as he has been in his four-year term.

“I’ve had a good life – I’ve been able to serve my country, my state and my county for 45 years,” he said.

“I do not believe that our forefathers meant for our politicians to be permanent, full-time jobs,” he said.

“I think they were meant to be here, to serve a term and move on. It is now time for me to spend more time with my family, grandchildren and my wife, and I will not seek another term on County Council”

He praised the people of District 5, calling them “the best people in the world.” He also lauded his wife, Judy, whom he called his best friend for 49 years.
