Schools closed in Andrews because of water problem

  • Friday, January 31, 2014

Andrews Mayor Rodney Giles says crews have worked all night and continue to work to try to solve a water problem.

Many people have reported have no water or very low water pressure since last night.

As a result of the problem, school is canceled today at Andrews Elementary, Rosemary Middle and Andrews High schools.

Buses will be running on a two-hour delay, picking up children who are already at the bus stop and have no one at home to watch over them. The children who are at already at school or who are picked up on the buses, will be taken care of at the schools. Afternoon buses will leave the schools beginning at noon. Employees report at 9:30 a.m, said District spokesman Ray White,

“There is a leak somewhere and they are trying to find it,” Giles said this morning.

He said he knows the situation is impacting places around the Alder Street area.

Giles said he does not know when the repairs will be complete.
