Anita Crone/For Inlet Outlook The Lost at Sea Memorial committee is seeking names of people for the monument before the next Lost at Sea ceremony in April.

The Lost At Sea Memorial has began gathering names for this year’s name adding ceremony. The Lost At Sea Memorial was founded in 2005 after the loss of Johnny W. Brown a native of Horry County.

Johnny was a commercial fisherman out of Murrells Inlet and was lost at sea on April 2, 2005.

His family founded the Lost At Sea Memorial and had a monument placed in Morse Park in Murrells Inlet S.C. to honor Johnny and all those lost at sea.

The monument consists of 29 names of people lost at sea. Each year names will be added as needed. If you know someone that was lost at sea and are interested in getting their name on the monument please contact the Laura Abernathy at 843-458-7671.

There are criteria requirements that the person lost will need to meet.

If they do, then the Lost At Sea Memorial will add their names free of charge.

You can find more information and application on our website www.lostatseamemorial.com. The deadline to submit names and applications is Feb. 21, 2014.

The ceremony will be on Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Morse Park in Murrells Inlet.
