Local students named to S.C. Governorís School honor roll

Greenville Ė Students excelling at the South Carolina Governorís School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH) come from across the state. More than 30 cities are represented by students on the first semester honor roll which includes the Presidentís List (students who earned all Aís) and Deanís List (students earning Aís and Bís).

While at SCGSAH, students specialize in one of five art areas, receiving pre-professional training in creative writing, dance, drama, music, or visual arts. While the arts curriculum is rigorous, SCGSAH students also have a tradition of excellence in the classroom.

Sydney Byrd of Pawleys Island named to JMU Deanís List

HARRISONBURG, VA Ė Pawleys Island resident Sydney Byrd has been named to the deanís list at James Madison University for the fall 2013 semester. Students who earn deanís list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Byrd is a senior whose major is Modern Foreign Lang - BA.

Kendyll Dhans named to Culver-Stockton Collegeís Presidentís List

Kendyll Dhans, sophomore nursing major from Murrells Inlet, was named to Culver-Stocktonís Presidentís List for work done during the fall 2013 semester.

To be named to the Presidentís List, Culver-Stockton College requires students to meet high academic standards. Presidentís List students have earned a 4.0 GPA and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours.

Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Mo., is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC specializes in experiential education and is one of only two colleges in the nation to offer the 12/3 semester calendar, where the typical 15-week semester is divided into two terms, a 12-week term and a three-week term.

Coastal Carolina University announces Presidentís List honors and Deanís List

CONWAY Ė Coastal Carolina University has announced that some 525 students have made the Presidentís honor list for the Fall Semester 2013. To qualify for the Presidentís List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time.

More than 1,900 students have made the Fall 2013 Deanís List at Coastal Carolina University. To qualify for the Deanís List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify for the Presidentís List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.

Coastal Carolina University is a dynamic, public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, just minutes from the resort area of Myrtle Beach. The university offers 66 areas of study toward the baccalaureate degree and seven masterís degree programs in accountancy, business administration, education, marine and wetland studies, and writing.
