Senator Yancey McGill’s legislative update

  • Friday, January 24, 2014

Tuesday, Ja. 14, began the 2nd regular session of the 120th General Assembly.

One of the first orders of business was the introduction of pre-filed bills.

A pre-filed bill can be submitted during a two day period in December, and then is introduced on the first day.

This year, there were 101 pieces of legislation pre-filed in the Senate, and 82 in the House of Representatives.

Any bills introduced last year that were not passed automatically carry forward into this session.

I continue to serve on the following Senate Committees: Finance, where I also serve on the Executive Committee and as Chairman of the Natural Resources and Economic Development Subcommittee; Agriculture; Ethics; Fish, Game and Forestry; General; Invitations; and Transportation.

We had very informative briefings this week from both the conservationists and the S. C. State Ports Authority.

Please feel free to contact me on any issue.

I can be reached at my district address P.O. Box 759, Kingstree SC 29556 (843-355-7217); or at my legislative office in Columbia, P. O. Box 142, Columbia, S. C. 29202, 803-212-6132, or through my email address –
