The monthly Kids Club meeting for January is presented by Brookgreen Gardens wildlife staff who will be bringing some of their animal ambassadors to provide an educational program to introduce the Kids Club at Inlet Square Mall to the Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens.
The kids club is free to all children under 12 and has regular fun monthly events. It is easy to sign up on the malls web site at www.inletsquaremall.com.
This month the kid’s club will be held on Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. in the mall meeting room where they will learn about mammals, birds, and reptiles and get to see some live animals as the interpreters point out their distinguishing features and the natural history of each species.
Brookgreen Gardens Lowcountry Zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1983.
Part of Brookgreen Gardens mission is to educate and exhibit flora and fauna of this region so the zoo’s collection consists of native animals and also domestic animals that may have existed in plantation days to maintain the farms and families that lived then.
The animals are either captive born animals from other zoos or collections or they are rehabilitated but non-releasable wildlife that needed homes.
All of the zoos animals are exhibited in natural habitats along a wooded ¼ mile trail.
Next month’s kids club meeting is February 8, at 10:30 AM and will be sponsored by the Fire Department with a real fire truck and Sparky the fireman mascot. More details of all kids club events can be found on Inlet Square Mall’s web site and facebook.
Inlet Square is located in Murrells Inlet, SC and managed by CRP Commercial Services.
The regional mall is anchored by Belk, JCPenney, K-mart, Stein Mart and Books-A-Million. Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. For more information regarding Inlet Square go to www.inletsquaremall.com.
