assisted rides program: There will be a volunteer orientation for the assisted rides program at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, 1230 Highmarket St., Georgetown. Seniors and disabled adults in your community are home bound and need your help getting to the doctors office, grocery store, social activities, religious services and more. Help them live with the quality of life they deserve at a time when they need it most. Mileage is reimbursed, quarterly incentives given and Volunteer insurance is provided.

Carl Anderson is hosting an open registration program for those who qualify for the Affordable Care Act on Feb. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Georgetown Library, 405 Cleland St. You will need to bring your employer telephone number, your estimated household income for 2014, Social Security numbers for yourself including dependents and email address and password to get into it. Back Woods Quail Club: The Back Woods Quail Club is sponsoring a shoot to benefit the Surgical Technology program at Horry Georgetown Technical College. One hundred sporting clay targets will be set up, and the entry fee is $75. Registration and the course open at 9 a.m. at 647 Hemingway Lane in Georgetown. Sandy island tour: There will be a special tour via boat, vehicle and foot to Sandy Island (Murrells Inlet/Pawleys Island) from 8 a.m. to noon.
