Garden City Beach group holds special meeting about median mowing

  • Saturday, January 18, 2014

The Garden City Beach Community Association on Monday agreed to accept a bid of $14,220 from Lee’s Lawn Care for mowing of the median along US 17 to NC 707, the Georgetown County line.

The bid was the highest of two received, but was “responsive to the bid” said Gary Nichols.

Evans Cutters bid $12,900.

In other action during the special meeting, the board of directors reluctantly accepted the resignation of Carroll Holshouser and approved a balanced $17,700 budget for 2014.

Included in the budget is $1,947 for contingencies and $2,500 for the purchase of Christmas decorations that hang from the community’s light poles.

The largest expenses were $6,000 for an administrator; $2,450 for hanging and removing the Christmas fixtures and the Christmas tree lighting; and $1,074 for the preparation of the nonprofit organization’s tax returns.
