  • Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Have you resolved to get outdoors more, learn more, meet new people, do more for the environment, or have more adventures and fun in 2014? The Winyah Master Naturalist Course, offered by the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, can help you to achieve all of the goals and more!

Registration is now open for this 12 week course, which will meet on Fridays, March 21 to June 6 from 9 am to 3 pm. The South Carolina Master Naturalist Program is a statewide corps of volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities. Participants in this course develop naturalist observation and recording skills, learn basic biological and ecological concepts, learn to read the natural history of a landscape, analyze environmental issues, and cultivate good environmental stewardship practices while exploring the unique habitats of the South Carolina coast.

Registration is through Clemson Extension at the web site https://www.regonline.com/MNWINS14 . The cost of $600 includes the Master Naturalist Training Manual, the Winyah Naturalist Course Book, 5 field guides, hand lens, digital resources, entrance fees, and expert instructors.
