Charlene Coles, age 82, of Hemingway, S.C.


Rose Gloster

Linen-Knox Funeral Home announces the funeral services for Rose Lee Gloster, age 74, of the Dunbar community of Georgetown.

Mrs. Gloster died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of the late George Gloster and the daughter of the late Dock and Flossie Rice of the Dunbar community.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in the Dunbar community, with Rev. Dr. Eddie Gamble Jr. officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery. The remains lay in state in the sanctuary of the church from noon until the hour of service.

Viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at Linen-Knox Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gloster is survived by her adopted daughter, Zearline Rice-Holmes of the Dunbar community; three sisters, Elnora McCray of Hemingway, S.C., Annie Mae Rice-Cuttino of the Maryville section of Georgetown, and Rebecca Rice-Briggs of Augusta, Ga.; five brothers, Henry Rice of Baltimore, Md., David Rice of Columbia, S.C., Sonny Rice of Long Island, N.Y.; Herman Rice of the Dunbar community, and Wyman Rice of Queens, N.Y.; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Linen-Knox Funeral Home.

Joseph Graham

Joseph Clyse Graham, age 66, of Hemingway passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in a Georgetown hospital.

Mr. Graham was born in Hemingway, a son of the late William Balford and Laura Owens Graham.

He was a painter, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Cribb Graham; a daughter, Kristen G. (Brach) Barnhill; brothers, Randall (Becky) Graham and Fairley (Katherine) Graham; sisters, Minnie (Lenny) Owens and Judy (Don) Cantey; four grandchildren, Remington, Chanler, Clysen and Layla Barnhill; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery.

Margaret Hierholzer

Margaret Mary Hierholzer, age 92, passed away in Madison, Fla. surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 6, 2014.

Mrs. Hierholzer was born in Columbia, S.C. on Jan. 10, 1921 to the late Isaac Elias and Mariam Raad Hierholzer.

She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Mrs. Hierholzer was an active member of her church; she was a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club, the Altar Society and sang in the church choir.

She had many favorite things to do, but her favorites were playing bridge, gardening, craft quilting, crocheting, and singing and dancing. But of all these things she loved being a mother and grandmother to her family.

Mrs. Hierholzer is survived by two sons, Gregory Isaac (I.E.) Hierholzer (Jackie) of Litchfield Beach and Charles Fredrick Hierholzer (Ramona) of Pawleys Island;. one daughter, Mariam Stephens (Billy) of Madison, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Pammela Rogers.

The Visitation and Rosary for Mrs. Hierholzer will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at Mayer Funeral Home in Georgetown.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Niles Mau

Niles R. Mau of Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Jan. 1, 2014 of natural causes while hunting.

He was born a son of Vivian T. Mau and the late Niles Pete Mau Jr. on Oct. 18, 1948 in Georgetown County.

Mr. Mau was employed with United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center for 35 years.

He was retired from there.

His hobbies included hunting and running his airboat on the St. Johns River.

Mr. Mau was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.

He leaves behind his mother, Vivian T. Mau; a loving wife, Cyndi Mau of Cocoa, Fla.; two daughters, Tammara Addison (Nick) and Jaqie Baker (Chris), all of Cocoa, Fla.; a son, Jason Mau (Crystal) of Georgetown; two grandsons, Jacob Addison (Littleman), and CJ Baker, both of Cocoa, Fla.; two granddaughters, Renee and Jordan Goude, both of Georgetown; two sisters, Janice M. Poston (Ernie) and Annette M. Skinner (Wright), both of Georgetown; four brothers, Jay Mau (Cheryl), Bobby Mau (Michele), Chris Mau (Tracy) and Tony Mau (Janice), all of Georgetown.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 in Cocoa, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Judes.

Pearl McCutcheon

Pearl Estell Risher McCutcheon, age 88, of Andrews, the widow of Willard Randolph McCutcheon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. McCutcheon was born the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Risher and Pearl Estell Peagler Risher on July 10, 1925 in Berkeley County.

She was a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Eastern Star – Rosemary Chapter.

Though words could never fully describe all her life, she committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished titles – Beloved Mother and Cherished Friend.

Randolph and Pearl were married July 14, 1942, and celebrated 69 years together.

From their blessed union was born four children, Barbara (Kenneth) M. Camlin, Willard Ralph McCutcheon, Frances (Don) M. Freeman, and Debbie (Johnny) M. Ellis; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild.

She also leaves behind: two brothers, J.W. (Kay) Peagler and Monroe Peagler; a sister, Reather (Tally) Arnold; and three sister-in-laws, Norma R. Snell, Betty Risher, and Nona Peagler.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, a son, Ralph; seven brothers, Perry, Walter, Silas, Marion, Buster, William “Pee Wee” Peagler and Rufus Risher; five sisters, Rev. Effie Causey, Rachel Mills, Mae Mitchum, and Bertha Weiss; and a step-mother, Collie P. Causey.

A Home Going Celebration will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Interment will follow in the Earles PH Church cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

The McCutcheon Family would like to say a special “Thank You” to her caregivers, Jaynella Ard, Vincent Casselman, and Reita Giles; and to her dearest friend, Jeanette Dunn.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at the Andrews Chapel.

Lila Pipkin

Lila Smith Pipkin, age 80, of Andrews died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at her residence.

Ms. Pipkin was born in McColl on July 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Willie Hubert Smith and Viola Adams Smith.

She grew up in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown County and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School.

Ms. Pipkin was the former owner of The Bargain Shop in Andrews and Georgetown.

She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie P. Elliott of Andrews; four sons, Pat Pipkin, Richard “Ricky” Shawn Pipkin and Hubert C. “Chris” Pipkin (Marissa), all of Andrews, and Tony Pipkin of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Pipkin was predeceased by a son, George C. Pipkin Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday morning, Jan. 10, 2014, at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. Dean Baber and the Rev. Harry Tanner Jr.

Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, Jan. 9, 2014, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Emma Reardon

Emma Andrade Reardon, age 83, wife of Jackson O. Reardon of Georgetown, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in Tidelands Community Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday morning, Jan. 13, 2014 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

Burial will follow in the cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2014.

Dorothy Willis

Dorothy Willis, age 70, formerly of Georgetown, died at her residence in Hempstead, N.Y. on Dec. 31, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel, conducted by Rev. Gloria Barr Ford.

Burial will follow immediately at Beach Family cemetery.

The remains will lie in state at Wilds Courtyard Chapel on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Willis was born on May 22, 1943 a daughter of Mr. Ernest Alston and Mrs. Essie Mae Collins Alston- Beach.

She was lovingly reared by her mother and step-father, Mr. Charlie H. Beach. All of her parents predeased her.

Until she retired, she was employed as a machine operator for number of years with Jenco Company of Hempstead. She was married to Abraham Willis who is deceased.

Survivors include; her adopted children Elder Diane Morrison of Uniondale, N.Y., Lydia Capers of New London Conn., Joanne Chisholm New York, N.Y., Theodore Harleston of Tennessee, Harold Smalls of New York, N.Y., and Lavitta Willis of Rockaway, N.Y..; her siblings, Rosa B. Carter of Hempstead, N.Y., and Earnest Alston, Mary Alston, Charlie Mae Fulman, Susan Knowlin, Gene Beach, Thomas Beach, Albert Beach, Hugie Beach, Ben Alston and Mabel Beach, all of Georgetown.
