  • Friday, January 3, 2014

Midway Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire at 96 Player Street at about 10 a.m. today. When crews arrived they reported heavy smoke coming from all sides of the home and flames coming from the back side. The two occupants of the home made it out safely and sat in a pickup truck. Firefighters provided blankets for the two to stay warm. The fire gutted the inside of the mobile home. The fire was under control by 11 a.m. but crews continued to extinguish a few hot spots after that time. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Georgetown City and Murrells Inlet Fire provided personnel to provide coverage in the district while Midway firefighters were on the call.
