Cashier shot during robbery in Andrews

A male cashier at an Andrews business was in stable condition after being shot during a robbery Saturday evening. Andrews Police Chief Joseph Cooper said it happened at around 7 p.m. at Tienda Mexiana at 403 East Main Street.
Cooper said at least two black males walked into the restaurant and demanded money.He said the cashier was shot during the robbery. Initial reports indicated he was shot in the stomach.
Cooper said there may have been more than two suspects but he knows there were at least two. He said they fled on foot after the robbery but it's unknown if they had a car waiting.The victim was transported to Grand Strand Hospital. He was conscious and breathing when he left the scene, Cooper said.
He said the owners and their employees were in the business at the time of the incident.The Sheriff's Office dog team responded to try to find the suspects.
