Missing man found safe

  • Friday, December 27, 2013

After nearly 90 minutes of searching, a man who walked away from a Maryville nursing home was found safe. James Bassett, 89, left South Island Assisted Living at about 5:30 a.m. and a search involving Georgetown police and firefighters began within 20 minutes. A dog team from the Sheriff's Office had just arrived on the scene when authorities received word Bassett had been found at Thomas Cafe on Front Street. Police Capt. Nelson Brown says everyone was especially concerned because Bassett has dementia and a pacemaker.
