Fire scare at Piggly Wiggly

  • Wednesday, December 25, 2013

Georgetown City firefighters responded to Piggly Wiggly on Highmarket Street Christmas afternoon because of a small fire. The fire was called in by someone at the adjacent Family Dollar store. Assistant Fire Chief Charlie Cribb said the fire began in a motor in a room in the rear of the building. "It created a lot of smoke," Cribb said. Damage was minimal. The fire was quickly contained. Piggly Wiggly was closed for the holiday on Wednesday.
