Braves nab region victory

Socastee High's wrestling team dominated region rival Georgetown 61-18 on Dec. 17.
The Braves got off to an 18-0 start, with Aydin Imani, Joe Smolenski and Kyle Burton all pinning their opponents less than a minute into their matches.  After Georgetown got a pin at 106 pounds to cut the lead to 18-6, Socastee reeled off five straight wins: Brandon Rogers and Dylan Martin got pins, Justin Knipper won a decision, and Logan Gammon and Jordan Hodge got pins.
Socastee forfeited at 145 pounds, and then Sam McKinney won a decision, John Leggett got a pin, and Ryan Luse won a decision.
Georgetown got a pin at 180 pounds for the 61-18 final.
