Sam Hodge, Georgetown County Emergency Manager, has been selected as the county’s Manager of the Year for 2013. Hodge was also named Manager of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2013 earlier this year.
An employee of the county for 22 years, Hodge has been Georgetown County emergency manager since 2008. He was named the S.C. Emergency Management Association’s Director of the Year in 2013 and also received the same award from the Association in 2011. He is the only one in the state to have received the honor twice.
Among his recent accomplishments, Hodge has worked to revamp the Community Emergency Response Team program and has completed three classes for county staff and the public. He has worked tirelessly to educate the public on the Know Your Zone evacuation initiative.
Additionally, Hodge played a leading role in response and recovery efforts related to the Front Street Fire.
