Deputies catch Garden City burglary suspect

A Murrells Inlet man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly being caught burglarizing a home in the Georgetown County portion of Garden City.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said 38-year-old Stephen Lundy Singleton of 547 Surfwind Drive West was arrested following a search.

She said deputies were sent to a home in the 900 block of South Waccamaw Drive just before 8 a.m. Wednesday because of an alarm activation.

When deputies arrived they saw a man running from the house.

“After losing sight of the suspect, the Bloodhound Tracking Team responded to the scene. Shortly after a thorough sweep of the area, Singleton was located hiding in some shrubbery,” Cuthbertson said. “Deputies located a moped a short distance from Singleton

which was reported stolen out of Horry County.”

Singleton was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where awaits a bond hearing. He is charged with

one count of Burglary Second Degree and one count of Receiving Stolen Goods.
