Two men were charged after getting into a fight on the front porch of the Sheriff’s Office on North Fraser Street.
It happened at about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 26, according to an incident report.
A deputy who was in the building said he saw two men - 41-year-old Francis Marion Parker Jr. and a 46-year-old Robert Chestnut - in the altercation.
The deputy states Parker had Chestnut on his knees in a headlock with Chestnut attempting to get free.
The two men were separated by deputies but then Parker allegedly hit the other man in the face, the report states.
While investigating what started the fight, deputies talked with a woman who was in the Sheriff’s Office lobby.
She said she and her husband are separated and she had been dating Parker but called off the relationship in early November. She said Parker “refuses to accept the relationship is over,” the report states.
She said on that same day Parker was waiting for her at her home when she got off work. The woman said he was there to get back a gift he had given her for her birthday.
Once inside the home, Parker reportedly refused to leave, He wanted the woman’s cell phone and when she refused to hand it over, he allegedly “wrestled” the phone from her and ran outside.
He the went back in the house but was told several times to leave. When he refused to leave, the woman attempted to exit the house but Parker allegedly blocked the door.
The woman told Parker he was scaring her and she was able to open the door but he closed it on her arm and foot. She told him he was going to break her arm if he did not stop. That is when Parker allegedly grabbed her and threw her on the floor.
The woman got up and then ran and locked herself in her bedroom. A while later she was able to escape from the house and she ran to her car and drove away. She called her husband, Chestnut, and they agreed to meet at the Sheriff’s Office to file a report.
Parker also drove to the Sheriff’s Office and reportedly jumped out of his car and approached the woman and Chestnut. Words were exchanged which led to the fight on the porch.
Parker was charged with assault and battery and kidnapping. He was taken to jail.
Chestnut was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and was released.
