One person has died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred late Saturday night.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Highway 701 and Old Pee Dee Road in the Yauhannah community.
Two people - 28-year-old Simon Dease Jr. and 26-year-old Jeremy Grate- were in a 2007 Ford sedan when it went off the road, hit a ditch, and flipped over several times. Both men were ejected from the vehicle.
Grate was airlifted to MUSC in Charleston. His condition has not been released,
Dease, of Jeremiah Lane, died at Grand Strand Hospital at 1:05 a.m., said Coroner Kenny Johnson. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
