Andrews man charged with church burglaries

A man accused of burglarizing Andrews area churches in recent weeks has been arrested,

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson says John Brady Howerton, 40, of 128 Deepwood Court in Andrews, is charged with three counts of second degree burglary.

The churches burglarized were Bethel United Methodist Church located at 5240 Kent Road, Six Mile Crossing Church of God located at 2347 Kent Road, and Andrews Holiness Church located at 2798 Georgetown Highway.

As part of an ongoing investigation conducted by investigators, Howerton was arrested Wednesday, according to information released Friday.

Howerton was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
