Ila Mae Denney Cumbee, age 88, of McClellanville, S.C.

Glenn Bouchette

Glenn Franklin Bouchette, age 71, of Andrews died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Bouchette was born in Florence on March 10, 1942, a son of the late Frank Bouchette and Fannie Belle Morris Bouchette.
He grew up in the Warsaw community of Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg High School.
Mr. Bouchette served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from International Paper Company, where he was a Quarter Century Club member, and a member of Paper Makers local union # 378. Mr. Bouchette was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are a daughter, Nicky Evans (Mark) of Andrews; a step-daughter, Kristy Main Lambert (Ron) of Andrews; a step-son; two grandchildren; and a twin sister, Glennetta Ray (Robbie) of Andrews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Billy Moree. Burial was private.

Hans Friedrich

Hans Friedrich, age 73, of Pawleys Island went to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2013 at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, S.C.
Born in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late Carl Joseph and Olga Kate Friedrich.
Mr. Friedrich was a graduate of Tegel Trade School as a stonemason and then trained as a professional investigator before entering the U.S. Army where he served in Germany.
He owned and operated Tile Installation Inc. and was a member of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church in Pawleys Island.
Surviving are his wife, Imogene Watson Friedrich; sons, Stephan and wife Karen of Wisconsin, Bob and wife Sandy of Florida; a daughter, Susann of Conway, S.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Eva-Marie Riedel-Lubke and husband Manfred and Dagmar Fritsch and husband Adoph, all of Germany.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
Inurnment with military honors followed the service. A reception will follow the services in the church fellowship hall where the family received friends.

Barbara Hughes

Barbara G. Bass Hughes, age 84, widow of Eddie Hughes, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Born on January 26, 1929, in Redsprings, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James Goodman and the late Elise Driggers Brewer. She was a member of Screven Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano.
Survivors include four children, Charles Bass (Betty), Gayle Jayroe and Dianne Chassereau (Gene), all of Georgetown and William David Bass (Wanda) of Murrells Inlet; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patsy Detwiler of Summerton.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifton Bass; and a stepfather, Jessie Brewer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Graham Funeral Home.

Janette Martin

Janette Harrelson Martin, 78, of Surfside Beach died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Agape Senior Assisted Living in Murrells Inlet.
Mrs. Martin was born in Georgetown on February 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Roy Bell Harrelson and Ruth Sisson Harrelson.
She was kind hearted and the most generous woman that was always there for those in need.
Mrs. Martin valued education and interests in the world and especially stressed doing the “right thing.”  
With a quick wit and wonderful laugh, she was often called “Quite a character” and will be missed in so many ways. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.
Surviving are a daughter, RuthAnn Martin Aukamp (David) of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, William O. (Billy) Martin of Murrells Inlet; a grandson, Will Aukamp of Atlanta; a sister, Mary Jane H. Dingle of Little Switzerland, N.C.; sister-in-law, Alice Cox Harrelson of Georgetown; and nephew, Russell Pascua of Surfside Beach.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 13, 2013, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Ronald E. Greiser Jr. Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends prior to the service from 2:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Irene O’Neill

Irene Jane O’Neill, age 81, of Georgetown died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at her residence.
Irene was born on Oct. 17, 1932 in Hazleton, Pa., a daughter of the late Herman and Martha Zakutney Trent.
She is survived by her husband, C. Allen O’Neil; two daughters, Janet Walls and Katherine Treible, both of Georgetown; one brother, Bob Trent and wife Ann of Wilmington, Dela.; one granddaughter, Laura Walls; four step-children, David, Marnette, Brett, and Bonnie; and four step-grandchildren.
There will be no services.

Kevin Palmer

Kevin Dale Palmer, age 33, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
Born on August 22, 1980, in Georgetown, he was a son of Emma Kennedy McClure and the late Scott R. Palmer.
Kevin attended Ringel Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling.
Survivors include his mother and step father, Tim McClure of Middleburg, Fla.; fiancé, Rebekka Poe of Georgetown; two step-brothers, Dalton McClure and Casey McClure both of Middleburg, Fla.; a maternal grandmother, Pearl Kennedy of Hemingway; a step grandmother, Anna Lee McClure of Crumpler, N.C.; four aunts; four uncles; and a number of great aunts and great uncles.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jason Palmer; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Louise Palmer; and a maternal grandfather, Edward Kennedy.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2013 at Graham Funeral Home.

John “Jack” Sengstacken

John E. “Jack” Sengstacken, age 90, widower of Joanne MacLeod Sengstaken, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Prince George Healthcare.
Born on May 4, 1923, in Suffern, N.Y., he was a son of the late Dr. Royal F. Sengstacken and the late Ruth Decker Sengstacken.
Mr. Sengstacken was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He enjoyed sailing and playing tennis.
Survivors include three children, Ann Kazaks (Richard) of Patchogue, N.Y., Nancy Cain (Richard) of Lexington and William Sengstacken (fiancé, Kristin Oblander) of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jessica Kazaks (fiancé, Branson Fields) of Colorado, Kevin Kazaks of North Carolina, Brian Kazaks of Patchogue, N.Y., and Rebecca Cain and Patrick Cain, both of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Royal F. Sengstacken; and a sister, Betty Sengstacken.
A gathering was held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at the Belle Isle Rice Canal.
