Sheriff's Office to participate in gun buy back program

  • Wednesday, October 30, 2013

On Saturday, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring an event to buy back handguns with no questions asked.
From 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on November 2, there will be law enforcement officers at the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Pawleys Island Substation, located at 291 Parkersville Road collecting handguns. A $100 gift card to Wal-Mart will be given to each individual who delivers a handgun to law enforcement officers.
There are strict guidelines to participating in this event. The handgun must be in working order, the handgun must be unloaded, and placed in the trunk of the vehicle. When you enter the parking lot, you must wait in your vehicle until given instructions by the officer. This buy back event is open to Georgetown County residents. A volunteer will check your I.D. and no questions will be asked about the handgun.
