Halloween events and fall festivals offered in area

Trick or treating returns to Front Street for Halloween next week but the candy-collecting will be just part of the fun.
Organizer Katie Maleckar said “Safe Halloween” will begin at Francis Marion Park. There will be two owls from The Center for Birds of Prey on hand.
The children can walk up and down Front Street collecting candy from participating merchants.
Here are other events that will be taking place between now and Halloween:

A Safe and Not So Spooky Halloween: Georgetown County Family YMCA and city of Georgetown will be sponsoring a safe and not so spooky Halloween on Oct. 31. At 4:30 p.m. there will be pumpkin painting and concessions and at 6:30 p.m. the Disney movie, “Hotel Transylvania,” will be shown at Rainey Park and Kaminski House lawn.

Haunted Halloween festival: The 2nd annual Huntington’s Haunted Halloween festival at Huntington Beach State Park will be held Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. The Atalaya “castle” will be the setting for an evening of fright-fully fun family entertainment. Admission to this event is $10 for adults; $7 for children 6-15; and children 5 and under are free.

Rose Hill Baptist Church: Rose Hill Baptist Church will be hosting a Community Event called “Hallelujah Night” Saturday, Oct. 26 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center. There will be food, children’s games, jumping room, guessing games, Bible trivia, Bible bingo, cake walk, trunk or treat, and plenty of good Christian fun for all ages.

Fall festival: Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church will be having a fall festival Sunday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. Costume contests (no scary costumes,) cake walk, games, trunk or treating, and hotdogs.

Truth-A-Treat: 6 to 8 p.m. at Folly Grove Community Center, 2226 Folly Grove Road, Hemingway. Followed by prayer meeting in the community center at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Ghost tour: Walking Shadows Ghost Tours will be having a Halloween Ghost Tour for 14 years and younger at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 and a tour for 15 years and up at 9 p.m. Meet at 800 Front St. (Joyfilled Gifts and Yarn Shop) 843-543-5321.

GHOST TOURS: Ghost tours featuring some of the most “haunted” locations in the Georgetown area are being offered by Jamie Grooms and his paranormal research team named Chasen Abigail Cross. Tours are for adults and cost from $45 to $100. Call Grooms at 843-325-6905 for details.

Halloween Night Extravaganza: First Baptist Church of Andrews is having a Halloween Night Extravaganza. Oct. 31 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. This is a safe alternative to trick or treating. They will have trunk or treating, jump castle, hay rides, games and food. Admission is free for everything and everyone.

Hallelujah Night: Beach Family Worship Center on Highmarket Street will be having its first “Hallelujah Night” Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be free carnival games and candy, bake sales, and T-shirt sales. Call Pastor Eric Wilder at (843) 315-4880 for more information.
