New funds arrive in Andrews

Sen. John Yancey McGill, Rep. Carl Anderson, Mayor Rodney Giles, Andrews Town Administrator Muretta Dorsey and Andrews Town Council members were on hand recently to celebrate the arrival of grant funds for the town of Andrews.
The Boy Scouts and Sessou Christian Martial Arts each received a check in the amount of $1,500 while the Andrews Veterans Association received a check in the amount of $2,000.
In addition, the Friends of the Library received a check in the amount of $1,500, which was cut by Georgetown County to the Library and not sent to the town.
McGill praised the community, its leaders and the young people while Anderson said he gets joy out of coming to the communities and being of service and help to them.
"The groups here today are good groups and positive groups who are doing something to help Andrews, South Carolina," Anderson said. "Our job is to come and support them."
Town Council members who were present included Patsy Greene, Angela Anderson, Maggie McGee, Sid Ackerman, Thomas Alford, David Tisdale.
