There was no disguising the fun on Tuesday morning as Georgetown County seniors held a Masquerade Party at the Beck Recreation Center.
The seniors enjoyed magic tricks by Ed the magician.
Many made their way to the dance floor going down the Soul Train line to the tune of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, and to the theme song from “Ghostbusters.”
As they strutted their stuff down the line those sitting on the side lines yelled, “Go Mary! Go James!”
Some wanted to show that they had not lost their dance moves.
James Funnye and Viola Evans, 91, went down the line as partners.
Later many seniors made it to the dance floor to do the Electric Slide.
Mike and Darlene Dime from the Pawleys Island Senior Center dressed as witches, with Mike in black and Darlene in red.
“We dress up every year on Halloween and sit on our porch and give out candy,” Darlene said.
The couple has been married for 55 years.
The site manager at the Plantersville center dressed as Grace Jones, the actress that played in the James Bond movie.
Sarah Young from the Pawleys Island center dressed as a Halloween hippie, and Connie Harris dressed as a baby witch. Charlena Onyeabor was dressed as Frankenstein's wife, Jerlene Wearing was an African queen, and Mildred Pyatt was dressed as a fortune teller, all from the Plantersville center.
Coretha Grate, the event coordinator, was dressed like Cleopatra.
“We wanted to do something a little different this year,” Grate said. “And we are giving a prize for the best costume.”
First place winners were given a $20 gift certificate and second place winners were given a $10 gift certificate.
Funnye won first place for the males, dressed as a church deacon, and Mike Dime won second place.
Harris won first place for the ladies and Darlene Dime won second place.
The seniors were served a hamburger lunch and each was given a treat bag from Agape Seniors.
