Sampit man charged with attempted murder

A Sampit man was arrested early Friday morning charged with attempted murder, according to the Georgetown County Detention Center.
Joey Trappier, 37, of Powell Road, is accused of a stabbing that took place late Thursday night.
According to an incident report from the Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at Sampit Park.
Deputies met with the 38-year-old male victim at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital emergency room who said he got into an altercation with Trappier who left and later returned with a knife.
Trappier allegedly stabbed the man “several times,” the report states.
The deputy reports the victim had a cut on his upper lip, on his cheek, chest and abdomen.
Trappier was located at his house and was arrested without incident.
