  • Wednesday, October 9, 2013

A man from Andrews who was working on an underground fuel tank at a gas station near Boston has died after a fire and explosion in the tank about a month ago, WMUR-TV reported.
Donald Scott, age 24, of Andrews died this week and was with another 33-year-old Andrews man when the explosion happened as they were inside a tank, WMUR-TV reported.
Firefighters say the men were relining an underground storage tank with fiberglass at a Mobil station in Manchester when something went wrong, the CBS TV station in Boston reported.
"There is a report that there was a light that had been dropped and broken inside of the tank," Manchester Fire Chief James Burkush told WBZ-TV. "So we're going to try and verify that."
Andy A. Snow, the other man in the tank, suffered severe burns from his waist down, reported the New Hampshire Union Leader.
The two men were working for a company called Tank Tech, which is based in Missouri.
A spokesman for Tank Tech Inc. told the Union Leader that the incident was the first for their company, which has been in business since 1985
However, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported that they discovered Kentucky fined Tank Tech $125 for problems in an incident in Hickman, Ky., that resulted in an explosion that killed a man in the summer of 2001.
