McDonald Elementary goes purple to honor “Uncle Larry”

  • Friday, November 29, 2013

When students at McDonald Elementary School were recently given an assignment to disguise a turkey so it would not get eaten on Thanksgiving, 4-year-old Bella Goude came up with a way to ace the project and honor her uncle, Larry Barrineau who is battling pancreatic cancer. Bella is pictured with her disguised turkey she named “Mr. Awareness!!”, “Captain of Team Larry”. What started as a simple project spread and became a school-wide cancer awareness day on Tuesday. Most students wore purple that day and Bella's classmates made the sign, which is pictured, in honor of her uncle and others who are battling the disease. Bella's teachers are Norma Briggs and Sandi Wilder.
