There were two armed robberies at two different stores within about 15 minutes Monday night and the same two men are believed to be responsible.
The first robbery happened at about 9:45 p.m. at the Kangaroo convenience store on Highmarket Street.
Very few details have been released but Police Capt. Nelson Brown said the suspects are two black males. No one was injured.
Less than 15 minutes later Cooter’s Store at the corner of Highway 17 and Pennyroyal Road was robbed.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said two suspects entered Cooter’s and demanded money from the clerk.
“The suspects took miscellaneous items and an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing in a silver in color, two-door import vehicle onto Pennyroyal Road,” Cuthbertson said.
The car was reportedly spotted by deputies at around 10:25 p.m. and a chase on Pennyroyal Road reached speeds of 90 mph.
The suspects crashed the vehicle and fled on foot.
Tracking dogs were requested to help find the suspects.
The first suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-9-inches to six feet in height, thin build, with dark skin, wearing a dark hoodie with his face covered by a multi-colored dark bandana.
The second suspect is described as a black male with dark skin, thin build wearing what appeared to be a camouflaged hat, grey basketball shorts and black tennis shoes.
Anyone that can identify the suspects or has any information about the robbery is urged to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 546-5101.
