Woman killed in overnight accident in Graves Station

A female pedestrian was killed as the result of an accident that occurred in the Graves Station community late Saturday night.
 Assistant Coroner Chase Ridgeway has identified the victim as 61-year-old Edna Lynn Thompson of Georgetown.
According to S.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres, the accident happened at about 11:35 p.m. on U.S. Highway 521 (Highmarket Street) at the intersection with Amelia Drive.
Beres said Thompson was in the road and was wearing dark colored clothing. She was struck by a 2004 Nissan Altima which was being driven by a 44-year-old woman.
Beres said the driver and three passengers who were in her vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Ridgeway said Thompson died of "multiple trauma" at the hospital.
The accident is still being investigated.
