From Georgetown Times news partner WBTW - TV 13:

Hurricane hunter airplanes flew into storm system in the Gulf of Mexico and they have found tropical storm force winds and an organized area of low pressure.
Since both features were found, the storm has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Andrea and a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the SC coast into NC up to Surf City.
"Our forecast in the eastern Carolinas will be... heavy rain Thursday and Friday," said WBTW Meteorologist Frank Johnson.
The rain totals from the storm could be between 2 and 4 inches, Johnson said.
"Tropical moisture heading our way will bring us a couple days of heavy rain. Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered tonight, and become more widespread as the tropical moisture arrives tomorrow," Johnson said.
Johnson said that Andrea, now formed in the Gulf of Mexico, will move across the Carolinas Friday bringing more heavy rain.
"This storm system will move away late Friday, but the high humidity will stick around through the weekend, so chances for pop up afternoon storms will stay high," Johnson said. "It will also heat up over the weekend with a few places hitting 90 by Sunday. It will get even hotter next week."
Johnson said that there are factors involved in the current system.
"There is a lot of dry air on the west side of the storm, and wind shear is still disrupting the circulation. These are both factors that will prohibit the storm from getting too strong. Plus, it will move toward land tomorrow, and once it moves away from the Gulf of Mexico, it will start to weaken," Johnson said.
The winds with the storm will weaken as it moves toward our area because it will approach our area over land from the west.
