Sampit shooting leads to attempted murder charges

A man accused of attempted murder was taken into custody this afternoon.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said Joshua Rashaun Taylor of 1819 Old Collins Creek Road in McClellanville is accused of an incident that occurred at about 2:50 a.m. today  at 1411 St. Delight’s Road in the Sampit Community.
“A physical altercation occurred which escalated into a shooting event,” Cuthbertson said. “After the altercation, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim several times. The victim is currently receiving treatment and the extent of his injuries are undisclosed at this time.”
Taylor is in jail awaiting a bond hearing.
