Brian Elliott

A Georgetown man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to shooting at a vehicle.
Brian Keith Elliott, 40, of 235 West Virginia Rd., was originally charged with attempted murder because of the Dec. 5, 2011 incident. He was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of assault and battery in the first degree.
There were two people in the truck Elliott shot at when they pulled into his driveway.
The sheriff's office says Elliott asked the victim and his girlfriend to help with an injured dog. When they entered his yard, Elliott ran at them. As the victims fled, Elliott fired shots at their vehicle.
The responding deputy reported seeing the bullet holes in the vehicle.
Judge Edward Cottingham said he feels the plea to the lesser charge was appropriate.
When sentencing Elliott, Cottingham said he will be given credit for the 234 days he has already served.
Five days after the shooting, Elliott and Renee Jean Morris were found together in Florida.
They were apprehended by U.S. Marshals after a surveillance operation took place in Naples, Fla.
Morris was charged with being an accessory after the fact but the charges against her have been dropped.
