A woman from the North Santee Community met with county investigators Feb. 4 to report her 32-year-old live-in boyfriend has molested a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect, Marcos Escalona Sanchez, was arrested Monday, charged with lewd act on a minor.
The woman said she noticed some inappropriate touching taking place and when she asked the girl about it she was told Sanchez had touched inappropriately.
His bond was set at $15,000.

Teen steals computer from CBHS

A 15-year-old Carvers Bay High School student was charged with larceny for allegedly stealing a computer from campus Jan. 30.
School officials reviewed security camera video and the teen was seen placing the $1,100 computer in a book bag.
When confronted, the student repeatedly denied taking the computer but finally admitted to the theft. He said he took the computer into some woods and hid it in a deer stand until he could sell it.
An officer escorted the teen to the deer stand and the computer was recovered.

Reported intruder

Also at Carvers Bay High, on Feb. 1 a teacher reported seeing an unauthorized person wandering the hallways of the campus.
When the school’s resource officer spoke with the teacher, she said the person she saw may have been a former student and she did not know what he was wearing.
She said the person was near the library when students were changing classes.
The campus was searched inside and out but no one was found.
Security camera video was also reviewed and no one was seen.
It was determined there had not been an intruder in the school.

Altered check

A Myrtle Beach man says he wrote a check to a Murrells Inlet doctor’s office in the amount of $10 earlier this year but someone changed the amount to $40.
He said he had a $40 outstanding balance with the office but had agreed to pay $10 per month.
He said he discovered the change while checking his bank account Feb. 4.

Take the food and run

An unknown female is accused of stealing $22 worth of food from the Murrells Inlet Waffle House at about 3:20 a.m. Feb. 10.
A worker said the woman placed an order and walked outside. When the food was ready the woman returned and as the cashier was ringing up the sale, the woman grabbed the bag of food and walked out of the restaurant.
She was last seen driving west on Highway 707.

Illegal contraband

A 39-year-old inmate at the Georgetown County Detention Center was found in possession of a cell phone while he was in his cell Feb. 9.
The phone was confiscated by officers of the jail.

Information is subject to change as the investigation proceeds. Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.
