Call Leads to Arrest of Suspects

  • Thursday, January 31, 2013

A call from a concerned citizen regarding a suspicious vehicle in Murrells Inlet resulted in Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies arresting Alan Edward Goldstein and Jacob Michael Walton for breaking and entering into automobiles and burglary.
At approximately 4 a.m. Wednesday, Georgetown County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Collins Creek Drive in Murrells Inlet in reference to a suspicious parked vehicle.
The officers inspected the unoccupied vehicle and noticed it to be full of what appeared to be stolen property, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson.
As the two suspects exited the woods, 21-year-old Alan Edward Goldstein was pushing a bicycle toward a gate that was clearly marked “No Trespassing,” Cuthbertson said.
When asked whose items were in the vehicle, both suspects declined to speak with deputies.
Also arrested was 21-year-old Jacob Michael Walton, of 522 Waverly Loop Road in Murrells Inlet.
Goldstein and Walton are being charged with 1st Degree Burglary, and five counts each of Breaking and Entering into Motor Vehicles. They are currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
