Tammy Brown
 
Tammy Brown, formerly of Georgetown, died at her residence on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Columbia, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Ms. Brown was born on June 17, 1970, a daughter of David Brown Sr. and Mrs. Lillian Grant Brown. Both parents are deceased.
She attended the public schools of Georgetown County, graduated from Choppee High School and earned the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Benedict College, Columbia.
For a number of years, until the onset of a disability, she was employed as a clerical administrator at the Richland County Courthouse.
Surviving are four siblings, David Brown Jr., Dora J. Brown, and Curtis Smith, all of Georgetown, and Alvin Brown of East Point, Ga.

Joe Bryant

Joe Glenn Bryant, 51, of Myrtle Beach died April 27, 2013 at his residence.  
He was born on September 14, 1961, a son of the late Joseph and Ada Addison Bryant.  
He was also predeceased by his brother, William James Bryant.
Surviving are a son, Timothy Vanderhorst of Georgetown; five sisters, Leanna Young of Loris, Lena Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, Mary Alice Akinadewo of Washington, D.C., Mary Bryant of Richmond, Va. and Eloise Johnson of Georgetown; and a brother, Joseph Bryant of Lewisville, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2013 at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Plantersville, S.C.

Thomas Deas
 
Thomas Deas of the Sampit community of Georgetown died on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice.
Funeral services for Mr. Deas will be held at noon on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Paul A.M.E Church.
Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Wilds Courtyard Chapel and on Saturday in the sanctuary of the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr. Deas was born on February 8, 1940 in Georgetown to the marital union of Mr. Walter Deas, and Mrs. Essie Duncan Deas.
For most of his adult life he was a logger in commercial pulpwood.
Surviving are his children, Terry Grant, Danny Grant, Maurice Shaw, Gene Grant, Dennis Grant and Elouise Grant, all of Georgetown, and Mr. Kevin Greene of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Henry Deas of Georgetown and Hughley Deas of Bloomingville; two sisters, Carrie Smith of Georgetown and Beulah Duncan of Jacksonville, N.C.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home.

Mary Godfrey

Mary Godfrey of the Oatland community of Georgetown died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Mrs. Godfrey was born on August 26, 1926 in Georgetown, a daughter of Julius Lee and Mrs. Mary Williams Lee.
She was educated in Georgetown County public schools and was employed for many years as a housekeeper and caregiver in private homes.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Amaryrillis Gamble and Mr. Kim Godfrey, both of Georgetown; and three adopted children, Ms. Sandra Bell, Ms. Rebecca Lewis, and Ms. Christine Young, all of Georgetown.

Ella Mae King
 
Ella Mae Smith King, formerly of Georgetown, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in New Haven, Conn.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2013 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial follows at the First Calvary Memorial Garden.
Visitation will take place on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Mrs. King was born on March 28, 1940 to the marital union of Mr. Van Smith and Mrs. Georgia Greene Smith, both deceased.
Surviving are her children Mrs. Michelle Monterio of New Haven, Pauletta King-Sewefi of Alexandria, Va., Christopher King and Joseph King, both of New Haven; one brother James Greene of Arcadia, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Arrahamaan and Ms. Hazel Smith, both of Georgetown, and Ms. Ruthina Mose and Ms. Mary Francis Smith, both of New Haven.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home.
 
Herbert Knox

 
Herbert Knox affectionately known as “Mickey,” formerly of Murrells Inlet, died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice.
Funeral services for Mr. Knox will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church in the Burgess community.
Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Wilds Courtyard Chapel and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church.
Mr. Knox was born on June 8, 1937 in the Burgess community to the marital union of Gabriel Knox and Mrs. Ada Carr Knox.
He was employed at Sand Castle Hotel, Myrtle Beach for 40 years as a maintenance man.
Surviving are five sons, Robert Johnson of Rockford, Ill., Daniel Johnson of Detroit, Mich., Carlton Knox of Atlanta, Ga., and Marvin Knox and Emanuel Knox, both of Georgetown; three daughters, Michelle Scott of Marietta, Ga., Beverly Blake of Goose Creek, S.C., and Pamela Knox of Georgetown; two brothers, Henry Lee Knox of Pawleys Island and Michael Knox of Melfa, Va.; three sisters, Queenie Murray of Fredericksburg, Va., Shirley Scott of Pawleys Island, Jacqueline Knox of Raleigh, N.C., and Gwendolyn Knox of Conway, S.C.

Richard Long

Richard Otto “Peewee” Long, 70, of Mullins, S.C., a native of Andrews, S.C., and the widower of Kaye F. Long, departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Long was born the son of Henry Long and Patty Long on January 19, 1943 in Williamsburg County.
Before his health problems, he was the owner and operator of the Automotive Centre and was a welder with S&S Barges.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.
Peewee and Kaye were married on May 13, 1967 and celebrated 36 years together.
Their home was blessed with two children, Richard Kevin “Ricky” Long, and Sherrie Lynn (James) Gainey; and two granddaughters, Ashley Renea Gainey and Shauna Leigh Long; three great-granddaughters, Aubrey Tunning, Emma Grace Elliott, and soon to arrive, Brystal Tunning.
He also leaves behind two brothers, John Henry Long and Glenny Long; two sisters, Beatrice Cribb and Irene Gibson; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; a brother, Lafayette Long; and a sister, Thelma Blakley.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Ivey Cemetery, directed by Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, May 2, 2013 at the Andrews Chapel.
