Sarah Green

Sarah V. Green, age 45, of Columbus, Ga., formally of the White Creek section of Georgetown, S.C. died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Georgia Health Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.
Mrs. Green is the daughter of the late Benjamin Washington and Shirley Lance of Georgetown, and a special aunt who reared her as a daughter, Evelena Keith of the Greentown section of Georgetown.
Funeral services for Ms. Green will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Gethsemane Baptist Church in the Sampit Community.
The Rev. James Brown, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church will be presiding, and Rev. Timothy A. Lance, pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Whiteville, N.C. will be officiating the service.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The remains will lie in state in the sanctuary of the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Linen-Knox Funeral Home on 1632 Emanuel Street in Georgetown.
Ms. Green is survived by her mother, Shirley Lance of Georgetown; a special aunt, Evelena Keith of the Greentown section of Georgetown; two daughters, Natashia Green of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Lakesha Green of Georgetown; three sisters, Valeria Graham of Bel-Air, Md., Ola Canteen of Columbia, S.C., and Johnnie Stewart of Frederick, Md.; four brothers, Kenny Frasier and Lic. Phillip Lance Sr., both of the Sampit Community of Georgetown, King Lance of Atlanta, Ga., Rev. Timothy Lance of Atlanta, Ga. and Rev. Timothy Lance of Whiteville, N.C.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Linen-Knox Funeral Home.

Joie Holland

Joie Lindsay Holland, 78, of Georgeotwn, S.C. died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Holland was born in Panama City, Fla. on January 3, 1935, a son of the late Jack R. Holland and Ellen Bunn Holland.  
He moved with his family to Georgetown in 1949.  
Mr. Holland graduated from Winyah High School in 1952, where, as a member of the Winyah High Band, he became interested in music.  
He attended the University of South Carolina, where he followed his love of music and was a member of the Carolina Band.  
Mr. Holland was also a member of the AFROTC Band and later enjoyed being a member of several musical groups.  
He was employed with International Paper Company for 41 years.
Mr. Holland was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Francis Asbury Sunday School class and was active in many church activities.  
He cherished his family and friends, and loved golf, his golf buddies, the Gamecocks, snow skiing, and travelling.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jean Zimmerman Holland of Georgetown; a beloved daughter, Debbie Lawrimore (Stan) of Irmo, S.C. and their son, Charles Andrew Lawrimore of Irmo; a beloved son, Michael Lindsay Holland of Columbia, S.C. and his son Matthew Stuart Holland (Mary Caroline) of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Charles Harold Holland of Spartanburg, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Holland was predeceased by:  a sister, Joyce Holland Griffin; and two brothers, James Conrad Holland and Michael Wayne Holland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon, March 1, 2013, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.  
Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford.  
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

Gloria Yow

Gloria Ward Yow, formerly of Georgetown, S.C., died on Friday, February 22, 2013 in Milwaukie, Wisc., home of her son, William “Billy” Yow and his wife, Julia.
She was 86 years old.
Mrs. Yow, a devoted mother to her only son, was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, and a graduate of Howard High School in Georgetown.
She was the sister of the late Lillie Mae Ward Grant and the late Rev. Joseph James Grant, with whom she spent much time in Georgetown after she returned home from New York City.
Mrs. Yow sometimes attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
She later joined the Jehovah Witnesses in 1992 with her son, who then lived in Pascagoula, Miss.
Her parents, Bentley and Eliza Ward, and her siblings, Ethel, Fred, Ernest, Eddie, Beatrice, Lillie and Herbert, have precedeased her.
She was the grandmother of Dwayne Ruben Yow of San Fransicso, Calif., Will Jeeremy Yow of Yuma, Ariz., Damien Benson Yow of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kim Erin Yow of Milwaukee, Wisc.; the aunt of Frank Grant and Dell Omega Grant of Georgetown, and the Presiding Elder of the AME Church, Georgetown District, Rosalyn Grant Coleman and Patricia Smalls, both of Columbia, S.C.; and the Rev. doctors Jacquelyn Grant Collier and Debora Grant of Atlanta; and a friend of a devoted first cousin, Ruth Bradley Wineglass of Georgetown.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 5747 North 29th Street, Milwaukie, Wisc. 53209.
