Katie Alston

Katie Alston, 83, of the Santee section of Georgetown, SC died on Saturday June 1, 2013 at Conway Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at noon at Singleton Chapel AME Church, conducted by Rev. Michael Burgess.
Burial will follow in Singleton AME Church cemetery.
Viewing will take place on Saturday in the sanctuary of the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Mrs. Alston was born on October 12, 1929 to the marital union between Robert Gibbs and Emma Ferguson Gibbs (both deceased).  
Until her retirement she was employed as a housekeeper.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Alston; her children, Vivian Alston-Dempsey, and Yvonne Alston, both of Philadelphia Pa., and Robert Gibbs of Conway, S.C.; and one sister, Mary Louise Gibbs Weathers of Georgetown, S.C.  
Arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home.

Douglas O'Hara

 
Douglas "Doug" R. O'Hara, age 71, of Pikeville, Tenn. passed away on June 2, 2013.  
Mr. O'Hara was a loving, supportive father whose sense of humor will be greatly missed by his loving family.  
Surviving are his fiancé, Donna Davis; daughters and son-in-law, Meghan and Adam O'Hara Murray of Hixson, Tenn., and Lindsey O'Hara of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Todd O'Hara of Dayton, Tenn., Matt and Lacy O'Hara of Ringgold, Ga.; brother and sisters-in-law, Leslie and Elise O'Hara of Pawleys Island, Libby O'Hara of Georgetown; and grandchildren, Madison Brown and Rowan Murray.  
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Eternal Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Snellville, GA 770-972-3155.

Harvey Rowe

Harvey J. Rowe Jr., 87, loving husband of Myrtle Tyler Rowe of Hemingway, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Mr. Rowe was born in Georgetown County on September 22, 1925 to the late Mr. Harvey J. and Mrs. Ella Howell Rowe.  
He was the youngest of nine siblings, and he was a veteran of the United States Army.  
On December 18, 1947, Harvey married Myrtle Tyler and worked as a farmer and a supervisor at International Paper Company for more than 40 years.  
He and Myrtle were blessed with four daughters, eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren throughout their 65 years of marriage.  
Mr. Rowe loved spending time with his family, being with friends at the round table at Mr. Floyd Miller’s store, driving around to supervise the farm, and pulling for his beloved Gamecocks.
Mr. Rowe was a lifetime member of Center Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Chairman, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and mentor for many members of the congregation.  
He was very passionate about his love for the Lord, and shared his faith with everyone.  
He touched more lives with his compassion and humility.  
He has been an inspiration to all who have known him, and his legacy of love and faith will endure forever.
Mr. Rowe is survived by his treasure of 65 years, Myrtle Tyler Rowe; four daughters, Cathy (Kerry) Burrows, Suzanne (Ronnie) Cribb, Angie (Andy) Hughes, and Shelia (Keith) Pyle;  grandchildren, Chad (Lacinda) Burrows, Heather (Michael) Dennis, Chasity (Brian) Garman, Kylie (Will) Tanner, Neal (Jessica) Collins, Nicholas (Ashley) Collins, Ashley (Jason) Raley, and Melissa Carr; great-grandchildren, Trenton Burrows, Michaela Dennis, Meghan Dennis, Colton Burrows, Keri Garman, Braelyn Garman, Hayden Dennis, Zeke Tanner, Raegan Collins, Bryant Garman, Addison Collins, AJ Tanner, Jace Raley and Kacie Raley; one granddog, Zeb Pyle; one sister, Cornelia M. Rodgers; and two sisters-in-law, Lula Belle Rawls and Marguerite Rowe.  
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother, Lottie Rawls Rowe; four brothers, Jim Rowe, Nathan Rowe, Sammie Rawls, and Mitchell Rawls; and three sisters, Lorene Tanner, Dorothy Roberts, and Dorell Grier.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Center Baptist Church.  
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the church.
