Elsie Waters Ellington, 87, Georgetown, S.C.


Derrick Collington

Derrick Lamont Collington, 41, formerly of Georgetown, S.C., died on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Columbia, S.C.  
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Small Sr., with burial following at First Calvary Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Collington was born on January 12, 1971, a son of David Doiley and Mrs. Brenda Collington-Thompson.  
He attended Georgetown County public schools.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Brenda Collington Thompson, Georgetown, S.C.; his father, David Doiley; a son, Preston Myers; siblings, Tyrone Thompson, David Doiley, Forrest Doiley and Tanya Doiley, all of Georgetown, Terrance Doiley of Durham, N.C., Twyla Doilley of Conway, S.C. and Twquette Greene of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Funeral services arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Homer Haithcock

Homer E. Haithcock, 57, of Georgetown, S.C. died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Haithcock was born in Conway, a son of Virginia Martin Haithcock and the late Benton D. Haithcock.
He attended Grace Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Haithcock was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
He loved fishing, music, family, friends and riding motorcycles.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Yauhannah are his wife, Ginger Haithcock of Georgetown; one son, Homer Haithcock II and wife Rebekah of Summerville, S.C.; two daughters, Brooke Cox of Georgetown and Amber Pomranky and husband Sgt. Anthony Pomranky of Jacksonville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Christian and Isabella Haithcock, Elijah, Cameron and Amya-Grace Cox, and Ashlyn and Ashton Pomranky; one brother, Danny Haithcock of Yauhannah; one nephew, Kendall Haithcock of Avon Park, Fla.; and his dog, Misty Blu.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Jerry Howell officiating.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Daniel Hall

Daniel Curtis Hall, 89, of Pawleys Island, S.C., widower of Mary Reeder Hall, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hall was born on March 31, 1923, in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Daniel Curtis Hall and Lelia Vaughn Hall.  
He grew up in Washington and graduated from high school there.  
Mr. Hall served in the Army during World War II.  
He was a retired employee of Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. and moved to Pawleys Island in 1984 from Vienna, Va.  
He coached girls’ softball in the Georgetown County recreation league for a time.  
Mr. Hall was an avid golfer, former golf instructor, and had been active with Teach My People.
Surviving are a son, Daniel C. Hall, Jr. (Barbara) of Georgetown; a daughter, Angela Hall of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Phyllis Ebert of Maryland; two granddaughters, Michelle Rhodes of Vienna, Va. and Elizabeth Hall of Pawleys Island; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Rhodes.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, January 4, 2013, at Pawleys Island Community Church Chapel.  
Officiating will be the Rev. Donald Williams.  
Inurnment will follow in Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Harold Miller

Harold McCracken Miller, 65, of Hemingway, S.C. went home to be with our Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Miller was born in Georgetown County, a son of the late H. Floyd Miller, Sr. and the late Bernice McCracken Miller.
He was a retired administrative supervisor for BE&K/KBR Construction Company.
The true desire of his heart was sharing the Gospel and his light for Christ.
He was an active member of Center Baptist Church, faithful Sunday School Teacher, and leader of the Baptist Men.
He was also a member of the Gideons International, a Shriner and was President of the Folly Grove Community Center.
Mr. Harold was a devoted husband, loving Daddy and “Buddy” and loved spending time with his family.
He enjoyed playing golf, church activities, and drinking coffee.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Pope Miller; daughter, Becky Miller-Altman, husband Spencer and their children, Spencer II and John Hamilton; daughter, Erin Miller Martin, husband Winston and their children, Nathan and Neal; daughter, Loni Miller and her children, Carson and Katherinn all of Hemingway; daughter, Ashley Miller Henderson and her children, Whitney, Jacob and Keaton of Kingstree; two adopted sons, Carey and Drew McClary of Kingstree; brother, H. Floyd Miller Jr. and his wife Patricia of Hemingway; and four nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Jeff Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Center Baptist Church.
Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at Center Baptist Church, 2602 Schoolhouse Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, Hemingway/Johnsonville Camp, PO Box 853, Hemingway, SC 29554 or the charity of ones choice.

Hurley Syndab Sr.
Hurley Vincent Syndab Sr., 75, formerly of Georgetown, S.C., died on Thursday, December 27, 2012 , in Newark, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Syndab of New Jersey; his sons, Rev. Dr. Ricky Syndab, Rev. Vincent Syndab, and Timmy Burgess; and a brother, Tracey Syndab.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2012 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pawleys Island, S.C., conducted by Rev. Abraham Nelson, with burial following at the church cemetery.  
Viewing will take place in the sanctuary of the church on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
