Glenda Ray

Glenda Rogers Ray, 69, of Andrews, S.C., widow of Gene Marshall Ray, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ray was born in Marion on June 5, 1943, a daughter of the late Samuel “Shorty” Rogers and Eva Scott Rogers.  
She lived in Hemingway prior to moving to Andrews.  
Mrs. Ray was a former employee of several textile manufacturers.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a very caring person to everyone.
Surviving are a son, Don M. Ray (Sara) of Andrews; two daughters, Eleanor R. Britt and Sharon R. Ward (Bruce), both of Andrews; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six brothers, David Rogers (Debbie) of Hemingway, S.C., Buddy Rogers of Georgetown, Ray Rogers (Susan) of Darlington, S.C., Terry Rogers (Susan) of Manning, S.C., Ted Rogers of Johnsonville, S.C., and Sammy Rogers of Florence, S.C.; and three sisters, Anda Poston and Linda Baxley, both of Johnsonville, and Vickie Altman of Georgetown.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ray was predeceased by:  a grandson, Chad Ward; and two brothers, Tony and Steve Rogers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2013, at Ivey Cemetery.

Norma Tanner

Mrs. Norma L. Tanner, age 75, of Hemingway, S.C. passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 13, 2013, at her home on Black River.
Born March 9, 1938, in Hemingway, Norma was the daughter of the late Ross M. and Avis Gordon LeGette.
She was a homemaker and worked as an administrative assistant in the law offices of J.P. Askins.
She was a member of Center Baptist Church where she served as a nursery worker for over 30 years.
She loved her family, enjoyed doing word search games, and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Thomas A. “Tom” Tanner; daughters, Teresa (Ken) VanHeyningen, and Allison (Butch) Goble; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Raley, Brett VanHeyningen, Sierra Williamson, Craig Williamson; great-grandchildren, Jace Raley and Kacie Raley; brother, Lex (Carolyn) LeGette; and sister, Mary (Legare) Miller.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Center Baptist Church, 2602 Schoolhouse Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
